Basil Pipian

Back in 2019 when we started CultureBox, one of our main motivations was being able to support our local small and medium sized farms through value added products that celebrate the hard work and the stories of those farmers. Especially this time of year, all of these plants are on a clock and sometimes a bumper crop can be a detriment if you can’t sell it quick enough. Dulce at Cedillo’s Fresh Produce has been an incredibly thoughtful and patient partner and we love having an opportunity to support her. This time we turned about 40 lbs of basil into this awesome pipian. Use it like you would pesto: as a spread, pasta sauce, or with some heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella for a delicious caprese salad.
